The Mortuary Collection states that it was released in 2019, but Asian Does Horror was only able to view it this year.

The Mortuary Collection is an anthology of short horror stories thrown in between a larger storyline. Directed by Ryan Spindell, the main arc tells the story of Sam (Caitlin Custer ) who comes to Raven's End Mortuary looking for a job. There, she meets Montgomery Dark (Clancy Brown) who begins the interview process and brings her on a tour of the mortuary. While there, Sam takes the opportunity to ask Montgomery what chilling stories he's gathered over the years of being a mortician. With each tale told, Sam is dissatisfied with the delivery, the plot twists and the narration of each story and offers her own. This is where the plot thickens and the main storyline of The Mortuary Collection unfolds.

We love how this movie begins. The color palate is dark and pastel, giving off the feel that it's just an ordinary children's horror show like Are You Afraid of the Dark and many others, but as the movie progresses, it takes a darker turn.

The short stories told by Montgomery also vary in length from short to long to longer, but the fourth story told by Sam is the longest of all four and it was very satisfying to watch, especially the twist at the end.

Ryan Spindell is also the director of The Babysitter Murders which Caitlin Custer, Sam, acted in. He takes the premise of his original work and includes it in this one. For those that have watched Spindell's movie would easily pick up on the twist at the end.

The four short stories presented in this movie are done very well and don't waste time beating around the bush. They have a balance of macabre and gruesome but steer clear of the paranormal, relying on the weird to deliver a sense of horror in the movie.

The music and soundtrack used throughout The Mortuary Collection is also quite nice and the instrumental tracks in certain parts of the movie does justice for those scenes.

All in all, The Mortuary Collection is a nice movie to watch if you're looking for something very chill for a nighttime watch. It's not heavy and the stories are delivered in a medium pace to convey messages in each.

Asian Does Horror gives The Mortuary Collection 👻👻👻 ghost emojis out of five.
